replying to @CaitlinKellyNYC @CaitlinKellyNYC Yes, those are fun and pack a bit of a kick! We also saw them in Puebla. #trlt

replying to @TheTravelCamel @TheTravelCamel @HMatthews67 @LindaPeters64 @postcardsplaces It's an irony of British (especially English) self-perception of our history that we haven't been successfully invaded since 1066 etc - but tend to forget we have fought among ourselves a lot. Edward I, for example, was responsible for a lot of castles in Wales. #TRLT

@TheTravelCamel @t_jh2009 A2: I’m damn lucky: a fort is walking distance from my house in Waterville, County Kerry!
Loher Fort; there are many stone forts on the Iveragh peninsula. #TRLT #Ireland #travel

replying to @t_jh2009 A2) It would be Fort Point National Historic Site, a Civil War era fort in San Francisco. My first visit was when I was a kid. My friends and I had a blast checking it out and playing pretend. When I go back, those memories return. #TRLT

A2 We recently visited Umerkot/Umarkot Fort, an 11th century construction in Pakistan's Sindh province. Local legend tells of a girl, Umar Marvi, abducted and held here by the local ruler who wanted to marry her. She said no - he let her go (eventually). @t_jh2009 #TRLT

A2: My favourite fort by a large margin is Krak des Chevaliers in Syria. Seen no other fort that come close to the grandeur of this. #TRLT
