replying to @LindaPeters64 @LindaPeters64 @t_jh2009 We have not visited Fort Ebey yet. The photos remind us of some of the other coastal fortifications we have seen though! #TRLT

Q2: Without a doubt, my favourite fort is Chittorgarh Fort in Rajasthan. Well, okay, maybe top 5! But it's up there! 13kms of still intact walls, glorious towers and temples within, as well as a living town. #TRLT

When a sign warns visitors to stay away from the seashore on beaches that are known for sneaker waves (sleeper waves, king waves) and strong undercurrents, better to keep a distance. #TRLT

replying to @StripeyMiata @StripeyMiata @LindaPeters64 @t_jh2009 We are very bad tourists anyway. We often tend to ignore official sights (even if we shouldn't.) One of my favorite moments was playing golf on Cruit Island with 2 retired lady schoolteachers. #TRLT

replying to @DoroLef @DoroLef @LindaPeters64 @StripeyMiata @TheTravelCamel A friend of mine is on the rhododendron eradication team in Killarney NationalPark. The goal is a 50 year plan. 😳 #trlt

Thinking further about A2 #TRLT on forts, walled cities always strike me as a different version of a fort. Derry is one of those I've been to often https://t.co/NaoutjyiQN

A5: Near the sea entry to Inverness, Fort George was built after Culloden (1746) to prevent further rebellions. It became a training base for regiments recruited in Scotland – especially, ironically, from the Highlands. Still a working fort but also a museum.

replying to @t_jh2009 A5) I'd have to say that it was The Louvre, when I first saw it from my hotel room in Paris I was overwhelmed by its sheer size and again when I walked around its grounds. #TRLT

replying to @LindaPeters64 @LindaPeters64 @StripeyMiata @t_jh2009 While that Irish hill fort looks lovely and empty...traveling now in an era of global COVID also means I'm unlikely to visit any tourist-y spot jammed with people. I would mask but it's hot and uncomfortable, so might avoid some spots now. #TRLT

replying to @LindaPeters64 @LindaPeters64 @TheTravelCamel It is ridiculously full of castles. One medieval ego bigger than the next 🤣 #TRLT
