Giving Back While Traveling
TTOT
Q1 via @StevenOnTheMove Have you ever participated in a voluntourism trip? What were the pros and cons of the trip? #TTOT

@SonjaSwissLife @StevenOnTheMove A1- At Travelhouseuk, our team arranged a trip to #Cambodia where we took a volunteer trip to teach English to the kids in an orphanage. With a view to widening the horizon; we taught them new skills and languages.

A1 Lucinda took part in 'hands on' rhino darting for a conservation safari programme at at Kwandwe, South Africa. Pros: making a difference. Cons: Lucinda wished it was a longer experience.

A1: I have yet to participate in a voluntourism trip mostly because of the cons. I question if we're really helping people or just providing a temporary fix. I also have serious concerns about how people document their trips, notably with the children. #TTOT

A1 @ataxiasocot & I volunteered at @thekiltwalk #Glasgow fundraising for @MNDScotland walking 6 mi. Pros: raising awareness & funds within an organized walk for every person & their own charity choice; like-minded new friends, self-satisfaction, grateful beneficiaries, fun! #TTOT
A1 I have never participated in voluntourism. Interested to hear about others though. I always focused my volunteer efforts on my local area. #TTOT
A1: Haven't participated in voluntourism, it's always hard these days to know what is ethically acceptable when volunteering o/s, esp in Asia #ttot
A1 Excellent to travel as a #volunteer team from your company. Fills everyone with a purpose which is helpful to make your company even more aware & responsible. More companies should do this #TTOT https://t.co/3qmvb6fogi

A1. It's true there are some very bad players and one needs expert advice to be sure they are investing their time and contribution to volunteer schemes. We will talk more of that today #TTOT https://t.co/9KkBa93ELR
A1 That's brilliant @aardvarksafaris Something extremely beneficial for Lucinda and very much so for wildlife. Thanks for sharing this #TTOT https://t.co/yBg35a8N5t

RESEARCH is key and finding Anglicizations that have a global view of specific #volunteer projects. @outbounding had a long discussion about this a couple years ago & we had some excellent discussions & expert's opinions. #TTOT
replying to @StevenOnTheMove @StevenOnTheMove A1 #Japan #volunteering. Great to know. Rice harvesting may not need Japanese language skills. Wonderful idea! Best on that! #TTOT
