Q1) via @SonjaSwissLife What would you advise for a first time traveller in terms of technology to use while travelling? #TTOT

replying to @SonjaSwissLife @SonjaSwissLife A1-First time travellers mostly make the mistake of over packing gadgets and end up on low suitcase space. Opt for tech that does multitasking, and focus on essentials e.g. mobile (with necessary apps, like WhatsApp, uber), power bank, chargeable light etc. #TTOT #Travel

replying to @SonjaSwissLife @SonjaSwissLife A1 - Carry as much as you can manage, as much as you can afford to lose and then as less as possible :-) #TTOT

A1: Definitely get onto Google Maps, it's your best friend. If travelling o/s, get a SIM with data at the airport you land in, so you can access it without using $$ data roaming. If you can't speak the language get Google Translate and d/l the language pack you need #ttot

A1. I just use my iPhone when I travel. My partner brings a Mac Airbook. All the apps I need are on my phone. If I’ll be in a place only a few days, I don’t bother getting a SIM card; if it’ll be a month or longer I do. #TTOT

A1 - Get a good lightweight portable charger and take advantage of useful apps for the destination you’re visiting… #TTOT

A1 For Safari -Take a camera, its always nice to have images, if you want to photograph wildlife you are going to need a DSLR camera and a big lens. You can hire / borrow them from some camps. https://t.co/6AIoYEEXw2

A1: Make sure that you have the right adapter with you! Otherwise you'll use your equipment only once & then start looking to buy an adapter, which is not always easy & a waste of time. 😉#TTOT https://t.co/uUpCoJEZHV

replying to @SonjaSwissLife @SonjaSwissLife A1. A phone (for emergencies should they arise). And *possibly* a camera too. But nothing else. Carry your memories between your ears. Tech just creates a barrier between guests and hosts. And until we can make biodegradable tech - all tech comes at a price we can't afford. #TTOT

#TTOT A1 I always get a local SIM card and I also find Google Maps and even Google translate useful.

A1: Nowadays you don't need that much equipment anymore. The smartphones got so good, that they offer all the needed stuff to travel easier. Camera, maps, internet. #TTOT

replying to @SonjaSwissLife @SonjaSwissLife A1. Limit what you bring so that you don't distract yourself. But also don't be afraid to bring what you really love. I am normally content with Kindle, phone, camera and a battery pack that can charge them. #ttot

Yes, phones are also for people to contact YOU in an emergency. New (local) SIM, new phone number. #TTOT
