Q3 via @TravelHouseUK When booking flights, should one book ahead of time or hunt for last minute deals? #TTOT

A3. Not so ahead and not too late. We feel 45 - 55 days ahead is the best time to book flight tickets as we have noticed fares to be cheaper during this window.

A3: Always best if you can book ahead of time if flying long distance (out of country etc.)
For domestic flights there might be deals closer to travel date but it's a bit of a gamble.

A3 Generally, book ahead of time for low-cost airline deals and last-minute for full-service airline deals (although the full-service airlines can have the best prices ahead of time during their sales (particularly in Dec and Jan) @TravelHouseUK #TTOT

A3 If you want to reduce stress, book ahead when possible. #ttot

replying to @SonjaSwissLife @SonjaSwissLife @travelhouseuk A3. Book flights ahead of time. While you can find deals later they're never for destinations that excite me. Booking early also gives more time to find deals on accommodation. Finding deals for both in the same location at the last minute is a stretch in my experience. #ttot

A3 No definite rules. Airfares depend on the carrier, historical data, promotions, market demand, competition, destination, city of origin, macroenvironmental events & more #TTOT

A3. I usually plan ahead my #travel adventures, especially when I want to catch seasonal changes such as autumn colours or spring blossom for my travel photography. Therefore, I usually book flights ahead.

replying to @SonjaSwissLife @SonjaSwissLife @travelhouseuk A3 #TTOT It depends if the destination matters. If you just need a break and don't care where then last minute deals can be a good idea.

replying to @SonjaSwissLife @SonjaSwissLife @travelhouseuk A3 Ahead of time. Have never found a last-minute that was cheap.

Even a few days out is not easy to find cheap flights.

Flights that may only be 200€, would be about 500€+ if do last-minute #TTOT

A3 I like to travel that way also. Last minute sales on travel, hotels, trains, buses, and when needed, airlines. #TTOT https://t.co/JyJ37YpHom

A3: Personally I prefer to book in advance if I know where I want to go and if it's for a couple of weeks. However, if I'm going for a short break then I tend to just book last minute. #ttot

A3 In general that might be important to book ahead if you have specific dates. In addition, it's always best to check on the "possibilities" AHEAD of time to know how to approach the booking at that destination & with the relevant carriers. #TTOT https://t.co/TmB9Co9IAv

A3 Sign up for email newsletters which some airlines send with low rates & dates for flash sales & specific limited availability on distressed inventory. If one is flexible, it's even better #TTOT https://t.co/DEnlccmYiD

A3 Only on a death emergency did I show up at the airport without a ticket. The airlines at the airport are already programmed to charge higher rates (plus service charges) on tickets, baggage than you can find on the Internet. #ttot https://t.co/hCg1iz8C5J
