Q1 via @SonjaSwissLife If you or someone with whom you're traveling has a restricted diet because of health or personal convictions, what kind of preparations do you make, if any, in advance of a trip? #TTOT

A1: a bit of research ahead of time helps. Finding eating options at hotel and nearby and even calling them to confirm is a good idea.
Also carrying some non perishable acceptable items.

A1. One important thing is to learn how to ask about ingredients in the local language(s)to make sure you are understood! I'm largely vegetarian so I learn how to say "no meat?"

A1 Travelers with restricted diets need to communicate in advance to all travel suppliers involved starting with the airlines, if flying, down to advising last minute day tours, restaurants at the destination. Carry some personal snacks in case of errors. #TTOT Image: @pixabay

A1. Look into restaurants that meet the needs of our group based on the dietary restrictions! There’s so many amazing city food guides for various dietary restrictions #TTOT

A1 Research typical eating customs of the place & find a list of restaurants to cater to your dietary needs. If on medically restricted diets, find a list of doctors/hospitals nearby & your country’s embassy. Make sure you have travel health insurance for this. #TTOT Jinho Jung

replying to @TravelDudes @TravelDudes @SonjaSwissLife A1: I have a peanut allergy so I bring Zyrtec, my inhaler, and Epi-pen with me. If English isn’t the main language I also pack translation cards. Ahead of time I try to research what foods might have nuts and look into restaurants that clearly label menus #TTOT

A1 Oh hey, story of my life. I carry food, shop in supermarkets, avoid restaurants and never expect anyone to be able to accommodate my needs. I’m surprising easy to feed considering said needs. #TTOT
