A1 Post-Pandemic #travel. #Contactless use of credit cards is preferred (safer than swiping). Sometimes only for small amounts. Higher amounts need insert/swipe the card & pin. Take more than 1 credit card. Some automated kiosks or shops don’t take cash. Mobile payments #TTOT
A1 A bigger push to have card payment however not sure in countries where cash is still king. As a traveller, I would still want to have some cash on hand. Just incase. #ttot
RT @SonjaSwissLife: Q1 via @SharLivingstone: What changes do you expect with how you carry/use money in a post-pandemic travel world? #TTOT
A1: Not much will change. It will be "Same same, but different"!
I might use the smartphone & the NFC function more for payments. But I would have done that also without the pandemic. #TTOT https://t.co/91xxVGHBfJ
A1. I’ve been using mobile payments with Alipay more often recently. But that might more be a result of the banks removing my local atms #TTOT

replying to @SonjaSwissLife @SonjaSwissLife I find it so annoying that so many businesses still only accept cash only. I'm actually shocked by this. Even in tourism regions like Austria where you spend good money in the restaurants & then they only want cash. #ttot
A1 Yes, Sophie there's a push for credit/deitt cards esp. contactless. It's not easy to know where /what about this. We have to keep up with the destination country. Portugal inclined to insist on cards or mobile at the moment but you're right cash is always needed #TTOT https://t.co/XaeLFiAcTi
replying to @SonjaSwissLife @SonjaSwissLife I'm using the contactless option, also with the phone, where possible. But I would have done this also without the pandemic. #ttot

Q2 via @TravelDudes: While there are countless posts about travelling on the cheap, what do you think is worth splurging on? #TTOT
replying to @SonjaSwissLife @SonjaSwissLife @SharLivingstone A1 Plan to consider using All inclusive packages and in the event that I would like to participate in community tourism engage communities that are organized in associations and make an electronic transfer before traveling #TTOT
Yes. It's probably because of their fees from the cards & other less credible causes. Some outlets are only taking paypal (not cards directly) so I've had to put my cards on paypal. #TTOT https://t.co/nxWgyHjPv1

A1 I agree, Diana. It's so good to be able to pre-pay a lot of things & then not be distracted with all the money transactions. It's important what you're saying about viable organizations to avoid refund loss if needed. #TTOT https://t.co/CRwoej3bCL
replying to @beekeasy @beekeasy Yes, I see that the banks really push everyone that way, to save costs. Still I hope and am quite sure that cash will survive, too. But it will get far less. #ttot
A2 Tour guide/group. A bad guide is often worse then no guide. Splurge or go without I say. #TTOT

A1 Oh yes, everyone on all sides is trying to do that. It's not just the germs. Even the national bus drivers in Portugal take a mobile payment. #TTOT https://t.co/4xY5gR3DZ5
replying to @lingointransit
@lingointransit The card and contactless payments is so handy, but I don't like and think that it's smart to get dependent on it.

A1: I think developed countries will mostly be cashless, but undeveloped countries or bartering economies will continue to use cash. #ttot
A2 Supporting local businesses through either accommodation, restaurants or small tours #TTOT
A2: I'm always happy to pay extra for a unique experience, whether that be food, tours, etc. #ttot
Yes, the transactions can be more complicated with contactless & mobile as they're all on different systems & subject to outages. So cash is handy & some kiosks only take the EXACT amount (eg Swiss) so no change. #TTOT https://t.co/cT2bcsQhMK

Does thinking about saving money excessively diminish the pleasure of your actual travel experience? How do you manage a balance? #TTOT
replying to @TravelDudes @TravelDudes I agree, I've been in a supermarket here locally and all the eftpos machines had stopped working. Came back online quickly but goes to show it's always best to have cash on you. #ttot
A2 I agree. If it's something truly desirable personally or a gift & hard to find, I'm inclined to make a budget on that basis also, Ronin. #TTOT https://t.co/QqwVSqEA4x
A2: I love the mix of budget & luxury travel. I like nice budget accommodations, but also to stay in 5* boutique hotels. or to try the delicious street food or dine in star rated restaurants.
Both are experiences and that's what's travel is all about for me. #ttot https://t.co/yUNv5rX3Hk

replying to @lingointransit @lingointransit If those systems would fail to operate 24 hours, it would be chaos everywhere. Not good. #ttot
A2 Yes! Supporting locals should be a priority for which we are happy to pay & what they have to offer is usually far superior than the international chains at the same destination. #TTOT https://t.co/1GZ9u6G6XA
A3 No, in my mind I'm saving now to have a stress free trip where I can splurge on something if I want or need to. Happy to give up some day to day luxuries to put money towards future travel #TTOT
