A1 Lovely photo. What safety precautions are you taking now that you're travelling again? #TTOT https://t.co/BjmGnTwi86
A1: I haven't really done any changes in my travel routine this year. I just make sure that I have packed a mask. 😷
I was not sure if it's wise to travel to Berlin, as it's a big city, but we did & it was absolutely fine & fun!

A1 Only trip: dental emergency to Lisbon 2 hrs away. Friend drove me nearest train 50km & I travelled 1st class-not much more € but safer. I walked from Santa Apolonia station to Anjo Azul hotel (certified safe & clean by Tourist board) Takeaway meals #TTOT Image @SonjaSwissLife
A1. Changes made
1) Wearing a mask
2) Safe hygiene practices
3) Maintain social distancing
4) Avoid crowds whenever possible

A1 I agree- always the mask & handy sanitizer & vigilance perhaps to think about our movements. Like in the hotel, the reception took me to my room with the key in his hand & left with me with it unsanitized along with the door handles. Little things. #TTOT https://t.co/g488KoeG5L
A1: One step is to get informed about local restrictions.
And you might want to book more individual instead of a package, as that reduces the cancelation fees, if done right, in the case of a change of travel restrictions.

A1: Several booking sites for accommodations offer free cancelations till 6 pm on day of arrival. So if you buy a cheap flight ticket, it's only that amount you would loose if you need to cancel a trip.
A package holiday usually have bigger cancellation fees.

A1 Yes, and sadly for some, this is a time to book hotels direct & not for price but for receiving the max. in protection of health. #TTOT https://t.co/rYbAJbVm62

@SonjaSwissLife Easy as that!
And if you choose the right restaurants, it's also no problem to eat there.
I've seen a restaurant where the waiter had their plastic visor not in front of the face. Do NOT go there.

replying to @SonjaSwissLife @SonjaSwissLife @CharlesMcCool A1: Due to both me and my husband being high risk, we have severely cut our level of travel down (was at least 3 months of the year, now about 3 weeks total). We haven't travelled internationally since the lockdown in Spring. A lot has to do with insurance too! #TTOT
replying to @SonjaSwissLife
@SonjaSwissLife You mention that the hotel was certified safe & clean by the Tourist board. I've heard that you just have to apply for it and that nobody checks if standards are met. Is that true?
Because then it's not worth much. #ttot

replying to @SonjaSwissLife @SonjaSwissLife @TravelDudes A2: I always get insurance, have all my medications filled, and check local advisories / ask hotel if things look iffy. During covid, we checked covid measures at hotel and went to a place that was rural, so distancing could be maintained. #TTOT
A2. Pre-trip preparations to ensure safety whilst traveling
- Pack more masks
- Bring hand sanitisers
- Buy appropriate travel insurance in lieu of this global pandemic situation

Yes choices are important. The place I had outdoor lunch in Lisbon delivered the silverware with tongs. I've been back twice. #TTOT https://t.co/qSjDP0hfeW
A2 Check all governments’ requirements including transit countries. Daily check of Hot Spot Report (via email) for all security or health issues around the world. Secure financial arrangements. #TTOT

A2: I got an extra travel insurance, which in case of emergency covers the treatment costs and would even fly me home again, if needed.
That's pretty much it. #TTOT https://t.co/eRFxAcSbq6

A2 Excellent recommendations. I had to walk out of a hotel in Lisbon who were not being reasonable. I was there for a medical reason- I did not need their germs. Portugal tourism is certifying hotels with a sticker "Safe & clean". #TTOT https://t.co/bNHbovcxgK
replying to @SonjaSwissLife @SonjaSwissLife @CharlesMcCool A1: less airplanes, trains, and public transportation and more road trips. #ttot

@SonjaSwissLife Usually the prices on those booking platforms don't cost much more and the free cancelation fee was a standard service for years.
I just see that the hotels don't provide this service themselves on their websites & they should in the current situation. #ttot
replying to @TravelDudes @TravelDudes A2: check the rates of the area the week leading up to visiting. Gives me an idea of the way the area is trending. Make sure I clean and have spares of our face masks #ttot

How do you stay informed on safety and security information while already abroad? #TTOT
replying to @TravelDudes @TravelDudes I can only tell you that it is a rigorous control as Portugal is very concerned. The "safe & clean" hotels that I've seen, really are. I left one that was not following a rigorous check-in but they did not have a sticker. #TTOT
replying to @SonjaSwissLife
@SonjaSwissLife I can't wait for the day when a vaccine is available and we don't have to do all these requirements anymore.

@HHLifestyleTrav @SonjaSwissLife @CharlesMcCool And the three weeks you have traveled were OK, I guess?
I've seen that it should be no problem to travel through Europe, if done properly.

replying to @HHLifestyleTrav @HHLifestyleTrav @SonjaSwissLife Good points. So where did you travel to? #ttot
A1 Good point Hannah about the travel insurance to mention. For others to know that if a government has a warning NOT to go - the insurance will not cover you on anything in the policy. #TTOT https://t.co/Re8cjHm9Uk
