A1: Really enjoyed these visits: The Dorset & East Devon Coast (regularly), 🇬🇧, Glacier Bay part of the Kluane/Wrangell-St. Elias/Glacier Bay/Tatshenshini-Alsek WHS (favourite), 🇨🇦/🇺🇸, Plitvice Lakes, 🇭🇷, Olympic NP, 🇺🇸, & Þingvellir, 🇮🇸 (although that’s a cultural site).

A1. I have the Kvarken Archipelago in front of the house, so am there often - #Finland's only Natural UNESCO World Heritage site. I also visited the Swedish Höga Kusten some years ago, which is pretty, too =)

A1: I've never compiled a comprehensive list of World Heritage List sites that I have visited. I know that @MammothCaveNP is on the list, which I first visited in 2005. #TTOT

A2: Good question, and initial thought is ‘loads of places’ but thinking about A3, not so sure it would be so great for them all. Maybe any icefields and glaciers that aren’t on the list, not so much to attract tourists/make money, but to raise concern about their loss.

A3. If it helps to protect the place from getting torn down/ destroyed/ "improved" then it is a blessing - but then again, there's places which gladly lose their World Heritage Status just to get an ugly bridge. https://t.co/nyOhdBM8Pe

A3 As with everything. It depends. It can be a curse since UNESCO status can easily lead to over-tourism. On the other hand, it is a blessing when places are considered worthy enough of awarding them UNESCO status. #TTOT

A3 Destination’s view: more visitors adds to the economy. Protection of the site is implemented to prevent damage. There can be social conflict over how it’s going to be done. Subject to neglect even destruction then unlisted with @UNESCO #TTOT Image #LaLaguna @SonjaSwissLife

A3: It can be a “double-edged sword” (https://t.co/BfqryjdkmW), & while ‘overtourism’ is a problem (think that may be more due to cheap flights, local management, etc.), overall a ‘blessing’ (but on case by case basis + it can’t protect against conflict/climate-eco crisis). #TTOT

A4 @UNESCO plays a role in education. A more concerted effort is needed to teach all global generations the value of respecting & protecting the place, people & culture using educative materials on site & off. Over-tourism can use capacity control. #TTOT #Sintra @SonjaSwissLife
