replying to @TravelDudes @TravelDudes We had good weather there, but also a tragedy when a women fell after trying to climb rocks at the side of the walk way. #ttot
replying to @hendrikmorkel @hendrikmorkel You would love to go hiking in Wadi Rum. #TTOT
A1 I loved my visit to Victoria Falls, Mosi-o-Tunya “the smoke that thunders” in Zimbabwe. #TTOT

A1 That's seems like a great choice for a "high"light, @tangenghui. Anything over 3000m for me & my body refuses any further steps upward. 🙃#TTOT https://t.co/FJAGMLifU0
replying to @StevenOnTheMove @StevenOnTheMove Absolutely, yes. Crossing fingers the whole time. #TTOT
replying to @StevenOnTheMove @StevenOnTheMove You're torturing us, @StevenOnTheMove #TTOT
A2: My problem is that I can't remember those kind of facts.
World Heritage Sites are usually nice spots to visit, but there are so many others as well. And I don't really care that much if they are listed as World Heritage Sites or not. #TTOT https://t.co/ASzLWW5F5M
replying to @StevenOnTheMove @StevenOnTheMove @MammothCaveNP @KentuckyTourism @NatlParkService I haven't heard of that one, but sounds interesting. #ttot
replying to @DoroLef @DoroLef @UNESCO A1 That's how I felt when I was in Formentor - really magnificent with clear skies, a dream. Same for Anaga just different. The light in both places was magical. #TTOT

replying to @SonjaSwissLife @SonjaSwissLife Paired it with some delicious Japanese cider this weekend. #TTOT
replying to @PureTraveller @PureTraveller And that mentions the problem. Tough to add something on a list, which might not exist soon anymore. 😒 #ttot
A2 Most (if not all) places are beautiful. The world is a beautiful place. I love that some get protected a bit more by awarding them UNESCO status. I am sure there are millions of places which deserve to be protected. #TTOT

replying to @TravelDudes @TravelDudes @MammothCaveNP @KentuckyTourism @NatlParkService It's the largest cave system in the world and home to some really interesting and unique ecosystems. It's only 90 minutes from Nashville or Louisville. #TTOT
replying to @TravelDudes @TravelDudes Read yesterday that the total Angkor WHS is 200km/sq, but that most people visit the same few temples. #TTOT
replying to @SonjaSwissLife @SonjaSwissLife @UNESCO I would love to leave now and see these places irl. #TTOT
Q3 via @PureTraveller: Do you consider World Heritage Site status to be either a blessing or a curse? If so, why? #TTOT

Do you consider World Heritage Site status to be either a blessing or a curse? If so, why? #TTOT
replying to @DoroLef
@DoroLef @StevenOnTheMove I agree. It sounds promising, but I still prefer to accept the situation like it is and that we have to live with it for a while. And if it then turns out more positive, then awesome!
I just think that we should do better with managing the current status. #ttot
RT @SonjaSwissLife: Q3 via @PureTraveller: Do you consider World Heritage Site status to be either a blessing or a curse? If so, why? #TTOT
A3: World Heritage Site status is a blessing AND a curse. Status can bring new awareness and potential visitors, which means more revenue to protect the place. However, visitors ALWAYS have a negative impact and need to be controlled. #TTOT

A3. If it helps to protect the place from getting torn down/ destroyed/ "improved" then it is a blessing - but then again, there's places which gladly lose their World Heritage Status just to get an ugly bridge. https://t.co/nyOhdBM8Pe

replying to @TravelDudes @TravelDudes @DoroLef I understand. I have been taking any vaccine news as guarded optimism. I do hope things are successful, but I know it's a long scientific journey to a genuinely safe vaccine. #TTOT
Q3 via @PureTraveller: Do you consider World Heritage Site status to be either a blessing or a curse? If so, why? #TTOT
replying to @PureTraveller @PureTraveller Oh no. Some tourists should be on leads. hahaha I hope she wasn't injured badly. #ttot
replying to @TravelDudes @TravelDudes @PureTraveller Plus it would defeat the UNESCO mission to preserve and protect if those glacial areas are dealing with too much human tourist traffic. #TTOT
A3 As with everything. It depends. It can be a curse since UNESCO status can easily lead to over-tourism. On the other hand, it is a blessing when places are considered worthy enough of awarding them UNESCO status. #TTOT
A3. Personally, a world heritage status is both a blessing and a curse.
On one hand, you get the protection and conservation that some places may not get. However, the influx of tourists can be damaging.
Catch 22 situation at times.

replying to @TravelDudes @TravelDudes I read the explanation somewhere, sometime, but Google it as it's a long time ago ;) #TTOT

A3: It can be a “double-edged sword” (https://t.co/BfqryjdkmW), & while ‘overtourism’ is a problem (think that may be more due to cheap flights, local management, etc.), overall a ‘blessing’ (but on case by case basis + it can’t protect against conflict/climate-eco crisis). #TTOT
A2 I completely agree. While I was thinking about this question & some gorgeous places I've been, I said no, it's better if we don't encourage too much tourism traffic to some spots. #TTOT https://t.co/1IKBz5dXV0
