replying to @TravelDudes A3:
- provide better European connections
- provide a ticket system, so that you can easily book a train ride from Spain to Germany without using a EuroRail pass
- BE ON TIME (though I know what a crazy system is all behind this)

A3:
- it's still far too expensive (compared to car or plane)
- it's still takes too long, as you first have the journey to the train station.
- re-open countryside connections (in Germany)
- offer better cabin solutions to use the time more useful, like "business" cabins

I've mostly taken train trips within a country. I find it the easiest way to get to see more of the country or do day trips. Haven't done many across country train trips as usually time poor. Domestic train only within same city possible #ttot

A3 for rail travel, the developed world have a system that works just about perfect. For other countries, as travellers its on us to do thorough homework and always have back up plan because so many things can and do go wrong. #TTOT

A4. Lots of answers:

- Flying needs to become more expensive
- Driving by car needs to become really expensive
- Train travel needs to be cheaper than it is today
- And be able to cope with increased passenger numbers
- More night trains

replying to @StevenOnTheMove @StevenOnTheMove Japan is crazy and a great example how a crazy train system can operate smoothly.
They officially send out excuses via Twitter, if a train arrives 30 seconds too early! Incredible!
In Germany they wouldn't / couldn't tweet, if it's 5 minutes late, as there are too many.

A2: Train travel in general is something that sticks in my mind more. From long-distance, multi-day trips as a kid in Russia to crossing a somewhat famous bridge at Kanchanaburi in Thailand, it's always pretty special! #ttot

Yes, come to think about it - a 100 years ago, when I was living in Hawaii & took a charter flight to to New York with a friend, then we took a train from New York to Boston to see his family - 1st time in 7 years. A different kind of experience but always interesting. #TTOT https://t.co/mgEcbvNAYE

A4. Depends on how much time I'd had, but some long trips can be booked with one ticket - Trans-Siberia for Example. If I have plenty of time, just buy the train tickets and see where it gets me. If short on time, plan it more closely and in advance.
