A4: Depending on where you are, it might be very useful to have a satellite phone with full batteries. Maybe even a little solar charger?

A4: Essential: tough mats (for getting out of mud or sand).
A spade: foldaway shovels are usually hard to use, & break easily.
A first-aid kit that includes antihistamines, prednisone, painkillers, atropine, & zip-'stiches'. Local anaesethetic is a good idea too.
