Q3: A sense of place: What are some ways you can really "eat like a local"? #TWchats

A3: I usually try to ask a concierge at my hotel, or a waiter or bartender wherever my first meal in a destination is, for recommendations of actual local haunts and faves. Sometimes just popping into a random spot can be serendipitous, too! #TWchats

A3: Eat with locals! Walk down a street, look into windows and at menus, and pick a place that appeals to you viscerally. Sometimes it won't blow you away, but sometimes it will! And that will stick with you for life. #TWchats

A3: @twtravelnews Shop for fresh food and eat like a local on a shore excursion that showcases the cuisine of the region, like our Taipei Food Market & Dumpling Lesson @FOOD&WINE excursion. #TWChats

A3: We recommend booking a tour specifically about food! @Regentcruises’ Go Local Tours center around learning the cuisine of a destination. Love #Paella? You can learn to make traditional paella from a farmer outside Valencia 😋 #TWchats

A3: Jamaica’s culinary claim to fame is its jerk seasoning. Try some dry-rubbed jerk chicken for a spicy afternoon snack. A bit of locally distilled rum from the Appleton Estate never hurt either. After all, it’s always 5 o'clock somewhere. #TWchats https://t.co/8OX9X106fT

A3: Going for pizza at Mezzaluna, or having a burger at JG Mellon, are two of my favorite authentic NYC outposts on the Upper East Side, and are both great “locals” experiences. #TWchats

A3: The best way to "eat like a local" is to ask one! Ask a friendly face or a knowledgeable tour director what the best places to eat are. If there's a language barrier, you can also use apps like @Yelp or Google Reviews to figure out what the locals recommend.
