Food tours are a fantastic way to learn about a city's culture and cuisine. I did a terrific market and food (and rum and beer) tour this week in #Barbados at the #satwbarbados meeting. Chef Michael Harrison, aka Chef Michael Hulk. A7 #TravelSkills @Barbados #food #travel

A6. In the past I’ve posed questions to @tripskyscanner for local recommendations. But I’ll also just explore neighborhoods & use @TripAdvisor to check stats on a place I’ve come across - like this great #beachront find @HartBeach in #Scheveningen #Netherlands

A7: I love #foodtours escpecially if they’re given by a local #chef who can discuss how he chooses the produce and what’s in season! #TravelSkills 🍅🥒🌶🥑

A7. Gotta be honest here. I’ve never taken a #food tour. But my entire #travel experience is basically a self-guided food tour anywhere. But I WOULD be interested in the doing the formal thing sometime. And LOVE #beer / #wine tours, so expect positive results.

Visitors to N. America (the US more than Canada) need to expect HUGE portions. I suggest first-time visitors order 3 or 4 appetizers for two people and then see if they're still hungry. And be sure to go for some real southern BBQ; a quintessential USA meal. A8 #travelskills
