A8: When traveling to #NYC, leave the big tourist areas! Visit the outer boroughs of the city for the best restaurants. Also, our servers get paid a much lower hourly rate; it is standard to tip 20%. #travelskills

A9 @thueringen_ttg already mentioned the very common dish in Thuringia: “Gehacktes”! It’s raw minced pork with onions. Check out @kristasimmons who just had a try. She loved it! https://t.co/5s57hTmb6R #TravelSkills #visitthuringia

My advice is to research local #food. #NorthAmerica has surprising regional food diversity that #Europeans often aren’t aware of. Here in #Maryland we specialize in steamed #crabs & #crabcakes, the quality of which you won’t find elsewhere.

TIP Be adventurous! If it’s been around for 100+ years, there must be a reason for it – it’s delicious! #TravelSkills

replying to @GermanyTourism @GermanyTourism TIP If you’re going to a friend’s (or relative’s) house in Europe and you’re a picky eater (like me), tell them in advance that you have food allergies to whatever you don’t eat (ahem, fish) #TravelSkills
