Q4 Do you think of Mexico as a dangerous destination? Why or why not? #TravelSkills

replying to @AllianzTravelUS @AllianzTravelUS A4 I do think parts of Mexico are really dangerous because of the cartels #TravelSkills

A4. We think it's less dangerous than it's depicted on the news, but like any new place you're traveling to, be aware and use common sense. #TravelSkills

replying to @AllianzTravelUS @AllianzTravelUS A4 I don’t think Mexico is as dangerous as it’s portrayed. Visitors are likely safer there than in many U.S. cities. #TravelSkills

A4 Most of the violence is due to conflicts between drug cartels and the Mexican authorities. As a tourist, you are in little danger of having trouble as long as you follow common sense safety precautions and don't get involved with drugs. #travelskills

A4 No, Like anywhere, don't get drunk and stay out until the wee hours, don't walk down dark alleys and avoid known crime areas. It's pretty straightforward. Naturally there are flukes, but there are in Toronto, Paris and NYC too! #TravelSkills

A4: No, especially not in the tourist areas. I think there are places tourists probably shouldn’t go, which is true almost anywhere #travelskills

A4 As with any destination, it’s important to be cognizant of security concerns and travel with self-awareness. #TravelSkills

A4: I personally do not. I'm from the Detroit area. I understand that there are "safe" pockets and more sketch pocket of ANY place. To me, danger is all relative and most crime is a crime of opportunity. Do research, be smart, have resources, follow your intuition. #TravelSkills https://t.co/cBd34h6WKa

A4 Definitely didn't feel dangerous when I was there last week. There were some sketchy neighborhoods, but everything felt fine. #travelskills https://t.co/pex2rhiECt

Travelers should exercise caution in any big city. I believe recent incidents in Cancun have been outside the main tourist zones. Visitors to #Mexico should pay attention to their surroundings and exercise normal caution, just like they would at home. A4 #travelskills

replying to @travelskills @travelskills A4: Depends on the region/ City. The border cities have legitimate safety issues while Mexico City is safe in many parts. If blanket assumptions are made about a country based on a single problem area then the US would be in big trouble. #TravelSkills

replying to @travelskills @travelskills A4: There are dangerous parts and corruption everywhere. You can’t be naive about it, however, if you are smart you can go and really enjoy the rich Mexican culture. I’m going this year! 🇲🇽 #TravelSkills

A4: I don't think it's right to label an entire country as "unsafe" or "bad." As with any place you visit, it's important to be vigilant + stay aware of your surroundings. As someone part of the LGBT community, I do this no matter where I am, unfortunately. #TravelSkills

replying to @cjmcginnis @cjmcginnis A4. I wouldn't say dangerous but I am definitely leery especially when traveling with my kids. I want to go there for a family vacation but I see and hear so many scary stories...I know..I know. the media scares. but when it comes to my kids...😊 #TravelSkills #travel

How do I know?

I lived in Seoul for two years and It's so close to the DMZ, the most heavily guarded border on the planet!

Never lost sleep or felt afraid 🙋

A4 My own experiences in #Mexico have always been safe, but #security is top of mind w/many travelers & the threshold is often a hot deal that's too good to pass up. I discussed this on the @KTLAMorningNews this week: https://t.co/CPerRuyjHC #Travelzoo #KTLA #TravelSkills
