A9 Not more often, but our editor-in-chief never leaves home without cash, usually divided into small bills. We also like to secure some local currency at an ATM at the airport upon arrival. https://t.co/82nVSrr5Il #TravelSkills
A9 When traveling in other countries, I tend to use cash more often than credit cards. It also depends on the credit card and location. Is it for work or fun, airport purchases or in town/city souvenirs, do I get points per purchase, etc. #TravelSkills
A9. Of course I do! Wracking up all those points so I can just travel more. #TravelSkills
A8: The land of smiles, Thailand is always welcoming to International travelers. #TravelSkills

RT @SmarterTravel: A9: Yes! You can save money on ATM withdrawal and currency exchange fees as long as your credit card doesn't charge you…
RT @LandLopers: A9: Definitely try to. It’s easier and ends up saving me money, but it’s not always possible #travelskills https://t.co/Uv2…
replying to @travelskills @travelskills A9 Try not to except for large purchases like hotel rooms, expensive merchandise, etc. Spending plastic on smaller incidental purchases exposes the card to more chances of fraud and skimming. #TravelSkills
replying to @JohnnyJet @JohnnyJet Google Maps really helps and some European train apps which help you know where to go, when to get there, and when things operate. #VisaAmbassador #TravelSkills

replying to @cjmcginnis @cjmcginnis @VisaNews Tips are a big one and sorry companies, I dont want you to track those either (i.e. how Uber / Lyft and the like make drivers reliant on tipping rather than a well priced service) #travelskills
A9: That would depend on the country, India would mostly be cash while Japan would mostly be card. #TravelSkills
replying to @LandLopers @LandLopers #travelskills I use my bank card to take out cash as I need it but also use credit cards for a better exchange rate and buyer protection for larger purchases or $$ meals
replying to @Travel_boomer @Travel_boomer @cjmcginnis @LandLopers Incredibly long waits for land line installations & terrible service were also factors in the high mobile adoption rates in many so-called underdeveloped countries. #TravelSkills

replying to @JohnnyJet @JohnnyJet No, cash is really important and has a linking with pride, identity, culture and national/regional importance. People want to have a hard currency. #VisaAmbassador #TravelSkills

A10 Because #biometrics help prove you're you, they provide added security. We're continuing to look for ways to incorporate biometrics into payments. #TravelSkills

@travelskills A9: Yes, as much as possible. It is safer, exchange rate is reasonable and I get the points or miles 😊. However, it is not always possible. Especially in remote areas or countries where credit cards are not widely accepted.
