Q8 Which European cities are difficult to navigate without speaking the local language? Which are easiest? #TravelSkills
replying to @GermanyTourism @GermanyTourism A8 I’m always amazed at how effortlessly they speak English in Scandinavia and Holland. Almost no accents! Amazing. #TravelSkills
replying to @GermanyTourism @GermanyTourism A8 These days, in most (if not all) major European cities it’s easy to find someone that speaks English (go to an international hotel or look for a young person) #TravelSkills
A8 Most people in Germany speak decent English so you shouldn’t have any problems getting around #TravelSkills
replying to @GermanyTourism @GermanyTourism A8 Paris, LOL! Seriously tho, I’ve found that if at first you speak a few words of French, Parisians will open up to you quickly. It’s all in the effort! #TravelSkills
A8: Some spots in Eastern Europe might be a challenge, but honestly most cities are easy to get around thanks to apps like Google maps. #TravelSkills
A8: It's easy to find English speakers in most European cities, especially if you look for younger people (who haven't yet forgotten what they learned in school!). More tips: https://t.co/GYDjT97wd3 #TravelSkills
replying to @travelskills @travelskills A8 Easiest linguistically to navigate are the English ones (UK, Ireland), especially for those from anglophone countries. The hardest for language seem to be the Eastern European countries. #TravelSkills
I Ihaven’t found any European cities difficult for languages. Maybe some in Eastern Europe but there’s not a major city anywhere in western Europe where you can’t get by with just English. Worse comes to worse, try a language app on your phone! A8 #travelskills

A8 #travelskills Istanbul was probably the hardest. The people who speak the best English want to sell you a rug. The easiest cities would be in Western Europe like Amsterdam or London. Switzerland & the Balkans were also fairly easy.
replying to @GermanyTourism @GermanyTourism A8 Outside of Madrid and Barcelona, it’s tough to find a lot of English spoken in Spain #TravelSkills
A8: #Amsterdam is an extremely easy city to navigate if you know English and don't know Dutch. In fact, the Netherlands consistently ranks as one of the best in the world at speaking English as a second language. #TravelSkills
A8 French speaking territories are the hardest for me. Either they don't speak English or don't WANT to. Hence why I'm studying French. Keyword: studying #TravelSkills
replying to @JohnnyJet @JohnnyJet A8: It's a little tricky to navigate some of the cities in eastern Europe (Bucharest, Warsaw, Budapest, etc.) without knowing the local language. Among the easiest? Barcelona, Madrid, Berlin, and Amsterdam! #travelskills
A8 We've had no real issue (yet - knock on wood) navigating a city that wasn't GPS related hah! #travelskills

A8. A different language has never stopped me from visiting a foreign country. Learn how to say "excuse me" "please" "thank you" & smile. It's amazing how nice people are when you look friendly and show respect by trying to learn a few words in their language. #TravelSkills
replying to @travelskills @travelskills A8 England was easy - English speaking country. That said I also went to Paris, Milan, Florence and Rome. We were students and didn't speak the language, but we didn't have any real problems getting around. We did the Hostel thing and met a lot of nice people. #travelskills
replying to @Heather_Poole A8. Also, brush up on your pantomiming skills. It's amazing how much you can communicate by playing what feels like a game of charades. So, learn a few words, smile, pantomime & use the google translate app. #TravelSkills
