A4 Reclining on long-haul flying? How is this a discussion! Of course you can! Usually planes used in int'l travel have more legroom #TravelSkills

replying to @united @united A4 I think it’s okay to recline on an overnight flight, but that’s about it. I don’t ever recline on daytime flights anymore. #TravelSkills

replying to @united @united A4 On a long-haul, you have to recline so you can sleep. Short-haul, I don’t recline. #TravelSkills

Reclining on a long-haul flight? It’s okay on a long-haul flight. But check with the person behind you first and ease your seat back gently. Also, don't recline your seat when the flight attendant is pourig coffee or a glass of red wine! A4 #travelskills

A4: I mean, sure, that’s fine (although I wish you wouldn’t) BUT please don’t do it during meals and PLEASE just give me a head’s up before so I can protect my knees. I’m 6’2” and have been whacked far too many times #travelskills

A4 I don't understand why this is even an issue. If the seats recline, recline! Sleep and be comfortable #TravelSkills

A4: Recline if the lights are out and everyone is trying to sleep, but put your seat up during meals. And never slam your seat back: https://t.co/o0B6gJI6vi #TravelSkills

#A4 I believe the wisdom is not during meal service, and not without a polite glance to make sure you won't be knocking something over. #travelskills https://t.co/e2mXYMI112

replying to @travelskills @travelskills A4: Well, I suppose I’m more tolerant of it on an overnight flight in Y. F or J, sure. Generally speaking, there’s not enough room in Y to recline anymore. #TravelSkills

replying to @cjmcginnis @cjmcginnis A4: A couple of years ago, the jerk in front of me reclined into my lap. Repeatedly. She really wanted to die. I believe that.

But just think of how you'd feel if the person in front of you reclined too far. Or just ask! #TravelSkills

A4: Minimal gain in comfort. For me, it actually becomes less comfortable. And, may increase pain for person behind you. So, probably a net-negative action. #TravelSkills https://t.co/Q6ur6N7ouO

replying to @united @united A4 If reclining seats enrage you, pay extra for an exit row or bulkhead seat. You’ll be glad you did! #TravelSkills

replying to @JohnnyJet @JohnnyJet A4: Yes, especially if the seat behind us is empty -- it's like winning the lotto. #TravelSkills

A4 Recline up to 3 inches more than most Economy Plus and Economy seats when flying in United Premium Plus. Combined with the foot rest, you’ll be 😴 https://t.co/IZk5lWAXUH #TravelSkills

A4 In Business Class, of course. In Economy it is now my principle never ever to recline; it’s just too cramped. #TravelSkills https://t.co/Ki6ATHcMrm

replying to @JohnnyJet @JohnnyJet @united A4 @united could be the hero here by increasing pitch instead of making customers deal with the effects of a ridiculously tight seat space. How about it? Imagine the great press! And the ecstatic customers! #TravelSkills

A4. It doesn't matter what anyone thinks, passengers are allowed to recline their seats, even during the meal service - in the US. Sure, it's important to recline slowly or warn people so they can move their laptop before it gets crushed. FYI: I rarely recline. #TravelSkills

roxannedarling

replying to @travelskills @travelskills @united A4 I could live happily with wider pitch + recline on long hauls and no recline on short hauls. #TravelSkills #keepthepeace #loveyourcustomers

replying to @travelskills @travelskills A4 That would be expected in Economy. People want to be as comfortable as possible on longer flights. The key may be to find a way into the Premium Economy cabin through upgrades or buyup. #TravelSkills

A4 On long haul #flights, reclining is OK to do, respectfully. since it makes sense that passengers will want to snooze. This @CateyHill story includes my take on recent experiments w/US carriers eliminating the recline on shorter flights: https://t.co/vpHgElgvhO #TravelSkills

replying to @cjmcginnis @cjmcginnis A4: Over 6 hours and I am definitely reclining...and so is everyone else especially if it a redeye. #TravelSkills
