#NYC: New York City

replying to @travelskills @travelskills A4 Go out and hunt for foods from all over the world from business that cater to mostly locals that are off the tourist path. Better, more authentic offerings at often very affordable prices. Queens is probably the best borough for that #travelskills
A3. First time tips: Don't be afraid to take the train! (Train = subway). Maybe after 10 PM grab an Uber to Queens. Download a city map to help you access things when you don't have access to wifi or use wifi at @Starbucks. @TKTS to buy half price Broadway show tix #TravelSkills

replying to @bennglazier @travelskills A4: I still haven't been specifically to see the great statue. wandering around DUMBO and over the Brooklyn Bridge. Central Park wandering. Shopping can be pretty epic. Top of the Rock. A favourite restaurant on Malcolm X Bve. #travelskills
Just walk, especially if the weather is nice. I once walked from Chinatown to East Village and it was incredibly delightful. We spotted mosaics on the sidewalks and buildings as well as people watched in the parks… You never know what you will find in NYC! #TravelSkills https://t.co/cYSi3vPVEv
A4 I think the (Free!) Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology is really underrated and they have really unique exhibits. #TravelSkills

replying to @united @united A5 Walking is best, but for long distances, rely on the subway to avoid awful surface traffic. It’s easy once you get the hang of it! #TravelSkills
replying to @united @united A5 Depends where you’re going but generally the subway is best. Love it. Sometimes a train, taxi, bus, rideshare or my fave a @Blacklane car to/from the airport. #TravelSkills
A5. Best way to get around NYC? On the water. City is so different from the outside. Also, the subway, especially, when it’s above ground, so you can see what the landscape is like. #TravelSkills
replying to @travelskills @travelskills A5: Subway, walk. Run if it's Sunday morning early. #travelskills
replying to @JohnnyJet @JohnnyJet A4. Take a free ride on the Staten Island Ferry for a great view of the Statue of Liberty and nyc #TravelSkills

replying to @bennglazier @bennglazier @travelskills I stayed in Harlem once and it was totally fine. The rumors about the city are ridiculous! #travelskills
A5. By walking it is always my # 1 - you just miss things when you're in the subway or in a car. It requires good walking shoes because Manhattan & the boroughs aren't small. My 2nd fav is by boat. I ❤️ taking the free Staten Island ferry, great views of the city! #TravelSkills
replying to @JohnnyJet @JohnnyJet @mommypoints @AndreaFeczko @JimByersTravel @LandLopers @SpudHilton @GabeSaglie @andrewzimmern @joshuagates @ZachHonig @GlobeTrotScott @Heather_Poole @richdemuro @IndraPetersons A2: Late reply. Favorite thing - the diversity of it's attractions and the people there. Least favorite - it's expensive to stay anywhere Central to the city. #TravelSkills
replying to @united @united TIP @Uber and Blade (@flybladenow) just began helicopter service to/from NYC airports. It’s not cheap but it’s fun to experience. #TravelSkills
replying to @united @united A5 Did you know you can now just “tap” your Visa card on subway turnstiles to pay your one-way fare? Easy peasy! Details from @VisaNews: https://t.co/Mx7tzuM5Za @ioWAndy #TravelSkills
A5 Subway or on foot is your best bet! The ferry is also a great way to take in views of the city and popular tourist attractions. The Staten Island Ferry offers stunning views of Lower Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island and the Brooklyn Bridge. #TravelSkills
replying to @travelskills @travelskills A5 Best way to get around NYC? Duh, the subway. #TravelSkills
replying to @Heather_Poole @Heather_Poole @Starbucks @TKTS So true. For many of us who grew up in the 80’s/ 90’s we grew up hearing horror stories about how dirty/ unsafe the NYC subway was. First 2 trips to NYC (when I was still a kid) I was too apprehensive about riding the subway. #travelskills
replying to @covo_mauricio @covo_mauricio @travelskills @united And what about pizza? Or a quaint diner frequented by the locals? #TravelSkills
replying to @united @united We went to a donut shop that had savoury donuts along with the regular sweet ones (imagine goat cheese stuffing and beet glaze) that was really cool. I was boring and went with peanut butter and jelly! #TravelSkills
replying to @aandj8804 @aandj8804 @travelskills Yep, you get bad spots in every big city, you can't say a whole neighbourhood is bad. #travelskills
A5 Flying into @EWRAirport? Take the train to Penn Station and get into the city in about 30 minutes. #TravelSkills
A4: THE PARKS! Especially Brooklyn’s @prospect_park! Take a detour into the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, stop at BAM for a concert on your way in or out lovely green space that Frederick Law Olmsted, thought to be his most successful and accomplished park design. #TravelSkills
replying to @travelskills @travelskills A5 Well the harbor booze cruise goes "around" NYC. does that count? #TravelSkills
replying to @united @united TIP @Uber and @lyft are great in NYC, but since cabs are so prevalent, I find it easier to just jump in one. #TravelSkills
A4 Best nontouristy things to do in NY: Hang out with me in Queens? I just like to walk around the city and take pictures of people. I like to walk around without a plan. It feels like an adventure. Go with the flow and see where you end up. Talk to people. #TravelSkills #NewYork
