replying to @united @united A5 Do your research. Find out what entry requirements, vaccinations, meds you need. Find out the places to go and the places to stay away from. #TravelSkills

replying to @united @united A5 Ask your doctor about any vaccinations you may need before traveling to Africa. When I went to Cape Town, I didn’t need any, but you do need them if you go on safari. #TravelSkills

A5. Advice for first-times in #SouthAfrica? Don’t just do the “Top 10 experiences” and go see safari animals. Explore the current human culture: music, food, art, sports, beer & wine. #TravelSkills #travel Photo: @PotLuckClubCT

replying to @united @united A5 Book your tours in advance since you don’t want to travel all that way and be told that the one you want is sold out. #TravelSkills

A5: Use a travel agent to help you plan; it will make life so much easier. Fly into Johannesburg, take a night or two at a nice resort to recover, then dive deep into safaris. Finish with time in Cape Town and the gorgeous wine country around Franschhoek. #TravelSkills

replying to @united @united A5 Consider taking a helicopter tour of the Cape Town region if you can. It’s not too expensive and so worth the views! Esp at Africa’s southernmost points. #TravelSkills

A5 The wildlife, safaris and adventures are amazing, but be sure to also go to Stellenbosch for relaxation and wine tasting. #travelskills

A5: You can’t do it all so don’t try. Instead focus on a couple of different regions or experiences and enjoy them as much as possible #travelskills

A5: Travel insurance is a good idea, especially if you're putting down a lot of money and/or you'll be on safari in more remote parts of the country. Here's a primer: https://t.co/tY3pDiyUCA #TravelSkills

A5 - Don't rush and try to do everything on one day. In Cape Town alone there is so much to do and explore, so spend at least 4-5 days. Tons of culture, history, nature and just taking in the local vibe. It's a very complex city #travelskills

replying to @LandLopers @LandLopers A5: make sure your Passport has more than 2 empty pages (that are not the last two pages) and more than 6 months of remaining validity, otherwise YOU WILL BE DENIED BOARDING FOR YOUR FLIGHT TO South Africa. (Yes the caps are necessary, I’ve seen this happen too much

A5. Do the night drive in Kruger National Park and a morning walk. They're usually optional and spaces are limited. Make sure to add it to your adventure, that's a fantastic add-on. #TravelSkills #travetip

A5 First-time travelers to #SouthAfrica should know that the US #dollar remains strong against the rand! The exchange rate peaked in early 2016 but you're still getting close to 15 South African rand to the dollar, making everyday expenses easier to budget! #TravelSkills
