Thoughts- take baby steps, start w/something a couple of hours away, make it easy with solid itinerary. First time flyer if your near a smaller airport consider it. Map out food places that are ‘safe’

A5: I don't know how to calculate this for sure. But, I do try to get a good idea of the best areas to stay away from, what are the big no-nos, and popular scams.

I like to read blogs as well as TripAdvisor to get an idea of parts of cities to eat, lodge, explore. I also read the local papers closer to to get an idea for political climate. #WeekendWanderlust
