replying to @ABritSoutherner @ABritSoutherner A5) Sometimes more, sometimes less, but generally $20-$40 a trip #WeekendWanderlust.

replying to @ABritSoutherner @ABritSoutherner @wildheartedblog @CabinZero Nice! And you can add to it, too! #WeekendWanderlust

replying to @SecondaryAdv @SecondaryAdv @WWTravelChat Exactly how I feel about them! I have one that I use right now from Iceland which is cool but I don’t see any need to have a collection. #WeekendWanderlust

A5: I try to keep souvenir spending under $10 or about that. A lot depends on uniqueness of the item and whether it is mass-produced or not. If it's handmade I'm willing to spend a bit more. #WeekendWanderlust

A5: Hardly anything! It's either very inexpensive things like postcards or magnets or something super special that may be a little more expensive.
#WeekendWanderlust

#WeekendWanderlust A5: The amount we spend on #travel souvenirs varies wildly. Sometimes a couple bucks for a magnet, but Ann’s been known to spend way too much on local fashion. (Yes, Rob too!)

replying to @TravelLatte @TravelLatte @wildheartedblog @CabinZero Heather is quite the expert when it comes to using a needle and thread :) #WeekendWanderlust

A5: We keep our souvenir spending pretty low. Typically, we pick up one small thing per destination, but usually no more than $10 per item (though a little more for a cool piece of art.) #WeekendWanderlust

replying to @wildheartedblog @wildheartedblog @yosecormier That's one thing I'm definitely getting in Japan. And probably shipping home. ;) #WeekendWanderlust

replying to @ABritSoutherner @ABritSoutherner @wildheartedblog @CabinZero Given her propensity towards clumsiness. Forgive me if I seem doubtful. ;) #WeekendWanderlust

replying to @wildheartedblog @wildheartedblog @TravelLatte @ABritSoutherner We bought parches for each kid during our recent 6-month 6 country ttip. Plan is to put them on their backpacks. #WeekendWanderlust

replying to @PassportDorks @PassportDorks I think for house sitters or something, that’s really nice! It’s just the expectation of having to bring something back for people that gets me. #WeekendWanderlust

replying to @WWTravelChat @WWTravelChat I try not to go over $20 total. But when I see some of the prices that they are wanting for some items makes me just put the thing back on the shelf. #WeekendWanderlust

replying to @PassportDorks @PassportDorks And let's be honest, it's great because then you don't have extra "stuff" laying around. If someone collects a certain item that's OK, but do we really need random knickknacks from different places we didn't visit? Personally, no thank you. #WeekendWanderlust

replying to @WWTravelChat @WWTravelChat A5: We try to keep it under $20 unless it is something really special #WeekendWanderlust #SecondaryAdventure

replying to @StevenOnTheMove @StevenOnTheMove @PassportDorks That's exactly why we try to make it something useful, or something we need. A warm sweater from Ireland. Cooking tools from France. That sort of thing. #WeekendWanderlust

replying to @TravelLatte @TravelLatte @PassportDorks It's different buying for yourself versus buying for others though. I'm referencing buying souvenir gifts for others. #WeekendWanderlust

Q6 What souvenirs travel well in luggage? Any tips to get breakables home? #WeekendWanderlust

replying to @wildheartedblog @wildheartedblog Same! It’s more fun to surprise someone with something you know they’ll love than to feel obligated to get stuff. #WeekendWanderlust

#WeekendWanderlust #Travel Chat Q6: What souvenirs travel well in luggage? Any tips to get breakables home?

replying to @StevenOnTheMove @StevenOnTheMove @PassportDorks Should have mentioned that our son's a chef, so useful to him. Although, we'd buy for us, too! #WeekendWanderlust

A6: Magnets travel great! I try to avoid breakables, but if I do buy one I make sure that it is well wrapped at the store/stall where I am buying it. Depending on the breakable item, stores will ship it to your home address for you so it's not in your luggage. #WeekendWanderlust

RT @ABritSoutherner: Q6: What souvenirs travel well in luggage? Any tips to get breakables home? #WeekendWanderlust https://t.co/OO9KyQfVZy

replying to @StevenOnTheMove @StevenOnTheMove @PassportDorks Right, and don't have to worry about packing anything if the souvenir is for yourself and you eat it before heading home. #WeekendWanderlust

@WWTravelChat Mexican Chocolate & Vanilla, aprons, hats, gloves, wallets.
#WeekendWanderlust

replying to @ABritSoutherner @ABritSoutherner @TravelLatte @CabinZero Bahahah shots fired! #WeekendWanderlust

replying to @yosecormier @yosecormier @ABritSoutherner But that's cool - they're stories, memories. not just stuff. #WeekendWanderlust

A6: Glass, mugs, Swarovski crystal…ok, ok…maybe not! We tend to always keep our souvenirs with us in our hand luggage - generally controls what we buy! #WeekendWanderlust

A6: I don't travel like I used to but I used to wrap the breakables in all the clothing and put in the centermost point of the luggage.
#WeekendWanderlust

replying to @yosecormier @yosecormier @TravelLatte @ABritSoutherner Love this idea! #WeekendWanderlust

#WeekendWanderlust A6: The souvenirs that #travel best are t-shirts or other fabrics you can pack! For breakables, we stuff them with a shirt, and wrap them well – or just ship ‘em home!

replying to @WanderlustJ1 @WanderlustJ1 @PassportDorks Oops I ate half the candy bar as I going to bring you, guess I gotta eat it all now. #WeekendWanderlust

replying to @TravelLatte @TravelLatte Anything small and unbreakable is best in luggage. For breakables, I typically put them in my carry on baggage if flying or wrap them in clothing and put them in my back pack to keep it separate from the main luggage to keep a better eye on it. #WeekendWanderlust

replying to @StevenOnTheMove @StevenOnTheMove @WanderlustJ1 @PassportDorks Haha fully commit! #WeekendWanderlust

replying to @WWTravelChat @WWTravelChat A6: We have found a few places will ship the item for you, we once bought jelly from this really cute place in Branson - they shipped it home for us for a small fee 👍 #weekendwanderlust

replying to @ABritSoutherner @ABritSoutherner Oh, totally forgot: Souvenir that traveled well, is my favorite, and is unique: Claddagh Ring from Ireland! :) #WeekendWanderlust

replying to @wildheartedblog @wildheartedblog I did that a few weeks ago with beer my English friend gave me when we met up in Scotland. The two bottles survived just fine in my checked luggage. #WeekendWanderlust

replying to @StevenOnTheMove @StevenOnTheMove @PassportDorks Exactly! Or find something at the airport after eating the rest of the candy bar 😅#WeekendWanderlust

replying to @wildheartedblog @wildheartedblog @WanderlustJ1 @PassportDorks I'd rather NOT get a gift than get a half-eaten candy bar. #WeekendWanderlust

A7: I like locally-made products, but the souvenirs I buy just depends. Magnets generally aren't locally made. Sometimes Christmas ornaments are locally made, but not always. #WeekendWanderlust

A1. Late hello from NY. yes, I love souvenirs. We always pick up fridge magnets and Christmas ornaments on our travels #WeekendWanderlust

A7: Yes! Whenever I buy something, I always try to buy local items. It's much more special and it is more sustainable!
