replying to @StevenOnTheMove @StevenOnTheMove @obligatraveler I hate how people follow/unfollow you on Instagram. Either follow or don't. 🤨 #WeekendWanderlust

replying to @aandj8804 @aandj8804 @obligatraveler 100% agree! I've had people do that on Twitter, too. However, it seems more prevalent on Instagram. #WeekendWanderlust

#WeekendWanderlust A2) I've gotten great suggestions for eating places and things to do using social media. On instagram I get inspired to see sites I see in pictures.

A2: I use Pinterest to find blog posts about the destinations. I've used Instagram to find attractions & Twitter to solicit advice and connect with locals. #WeekendWanderlust

A2- I belong to a couple of travel groups on FB, and the pictures definitely influence my choice of places to visit (random pic) #WeekendWanderlust #travelingsession

replying to @StevenOnTheMove @StevenOnTheMove @obligatraveler There are tools to find out who has followed or unfollowed you on Instagram. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places but I haven't seen as many of those types of tools for other social media platforms like Instagram. #WeekendWanderlust

ABritSoutherner

A3: Not at the moment, but the amount of Swiss alp destination things I see I'm really close. #WeekendWanderlust

A3: Nope, I don't think so. #WeekendWanderlust

replying to @aandj8804 @aandj8804 @wildheartedblog It's just such a rabbit hole! I sit down for a quick peek, and the next thing you know there are a hundred places I want to go and it's 4-o'clock in the morning. #WeekendWanderlust

A3: Nope. So far I've yet to book a trip just because I saw something on social media. I have been influenced to eat/drink at places because of suggestions on social media, but never a whole trip. #WeekendWanderlust

replying to @aandj8804 @aandj8804 @obligatraveler I don't pay it any attention. It used to annoy me that this one particular Twitter user did it constantly, but I've got more to think about in life than who plays the follow/unfollow game. #WeekendWanderlust

replying to @StevenOnTheMove @StevenOnTheMove Honestly, there are places I've seen on SM and would book a trip just for that...if time and money were unlimited. For now, they just get added to a list in case something takes me in that direction. #WeekendWanderlust

replying to @ABritSoutherner @ABritSoutherner A3: Not exactly but did keep it in mind while I was traveling through Texas. I saw and was reminded about some old roadside attractions on social media so deviated my route to try to find them. #WeekendWanderlust

replying to @ABritSoutherner @ABritSoutherner A2. Joining late. I love asking people in social media land if they have any tips on where I'll be traveling. I find the best blogs that way. #weekendwanderlust

StevenOnTheMove

replying to @TravelLatte @TravelLatte I have, too. Like you, it's something that maybe gets stowed away for later. However, my mental list of active travels is pretty full. #WeekendWanderlust

ABritSoutherner

A4: Totally because its so easy to just ask a recommendation and get a response within seconds sometimes, thats hard to compete with. However, I do think that the pre-planning is a lot of research the traditional way. #WeekendWanderlust

A4: I still think it's very much a personal preference but, in general, I'd say yes. I personally use many different forms - online and traditional. #WeekendWanderlust

replying to @WWTravelChat @WWTravelChat For some people, definitely. But that's okay - I think there are some people that Twitter reaches who might not pay attention to "traditional" media. #WeekendWanderlust

A4: Given that so many people on this chat said they use things besides social media for trips, it has NOT replaced traditional media. However, it is a GREAT supplement. #WeekendWanderlust

replying to @ABritSoutherner @ABritSoutherner A4: Yes because of how fast the response time can be as well as there are lots of information about any or most destinations on social media. #WeekendWanderlust
