replying to @byland_and_sea @byland_and_sea I do too! I love searching through the brochures at the hotels to see what local things there are to do in the area! #WeekendWanderlust

A5: Typically no, but I think there are exceptions to that. I love art and so I love seeing doctored photos too but I think it would be great for creators to share the original photo too so people aren't left disappointed. #WeekendWanderlust

A5: There have been a few places that photoshop was the better version but I also think the experience of over tourism proves a more critical role we all have to preserve those spaces. #WeekendWanderlust

A5: Social media is a blessing and a curse. It can accurately depict a destination, but so often it does not. It usually does a great job of representing a tourist's view of a destination, but rarely represents the resident's view of a place. #WeekendWanderlust

replying to @TravelLatte @TravelLatte A4. No, I think the people who want to know about a destination rather than just get a selfie still lean towards traditional media. #weekendwanderlust

replying to @WWTravelChat @WWTravelChat It represents one view of a destination. #WeekendWanderlust

replying to @TravelLatte @TravelLatte I feel like the people on social media often accurately represent a destination… #WeekendWanderlust

A5: It can be if you're looking at content produced by people who live there and not just other travelers/tourists. #WeekendWanderlust

A1: We find that having a great starting off point is the best part of travel. Our Travel Guides lead to perfect vacations from the start: https://t.co/GfwoQXOMID #WeekendWanderlust #AlamoDriveHappy

A5: No. I feel SM can be slanted and biased. There is so much more to a destination than a carefully crafted Instragram photo! #weekendwanderlust

replying to @WWTravelChat @WWTravelChat A5: Most times yes. @Tripadvisor has some great contributors that write very detailed articles. @Mapquest I also use that will allow people to ask questions and get answers very quickly by local guides. Again, another social platform I need to stay on top of. #WeekendWanderlust

#WeekendWanderlust A5) I would say take people's Instagram pics with a grain of salt, but I don't think great travel pics are a new trend, it's been happening since the invention of the camera

replying to @ABritSoutherner @ABritSoutherner I think social media has added to traditional media forms of researching. It's nice getting a more personal view of a location rather than merely what it is portrayed in a travel guide. #WeekendWanderlust

A1:
I‘m a #travelphotographer, so I love being able to share some of my pictures. 📸
But I feel like Twitter is better if I want to connect with fellow globetrotters 🧳 On here no one feels that pressure to have a certain amount of followers

replying to @ABritSoutherner @ABritSoutherner I think the problem (if there is one) is that SM is only showing you a snapshot. It's like traveling with blinders on. There is SO much more to a destination! #WeekendWanderlust

A5 (cont.): I do find it helpful to search locations & hashtags on Instagram to see a "local" perspective of a place. #WeekendWanderlust

replying to @brimiers @brimiers @TravelLatte As far as blogging, I don't have a strategy. But for generating ideas, I'm all over that! #weekendwanderlust

A6: That depends on where we are at. On a beach - disconnect for a few hours. Normally, we are very connected. I guess thats the pros and cons of the job. #WeekendWanderlust

A6: It's my job to be connected while traveling, but it's nice to get away from time to time. #WeekendWanderlust

A2: We let social media take a backseat during travel so that we can take in every moment. While it absolutely enhances the trip in many ways and we love sharing with friends and followers, we think that less is more. #WeekendWanderlust #AlamoDriveHappy https://t.co/dUt8HCwlc7

A6: I try to strike a balance. I do enjoy putting the phone away sometimes and focusing on being present. #WeekendWanderlust

A6: I disconnect! I would much rather enjoy the moment than worry about posting it on SM. I think it's actually sad when people do that. #sorrynotsorry #weekendwanderlust

replying to @WWTravelChat @WWTravelChat I generally post a photo or two at the end of the day. But, I often leave the phone off. #WeekendWanderlust

A2:
I‘m in an endless amount of travel groups on Fb and constantly discuss trips around the globe with others. ✈️🧳
It‘s amazing to be able to meet likeminded people. And SM also gives one so many amazing travel tips!
#WeekendWanderlust

replying to @WanderlustJ1 @WanderlustJ1 @byland_and_sea That little rack at the hotel with all of the brochures. it's like I turn into a kid again and walk away with enough to wallpaper the entire house. ;) #WeekendWanderlust

replying to @TravelLatte @TravelLatte Me too! And hairstyles and outfit ideas and quotes! #weekendwanderlust

A5- Not at all. I had never heard of Malta before I booked a trip and it is one of my favorite places in the world. You won't see much about it on social media, but you'll see 100 post saying how great Paris is (it's not) #WeekendWanderlust #travelingsession

A3: Oahu!🌺We always love traveling to places where the locals hang. After reading this guide on touring the island like a local, we immediately booked our tickets! ✈️ #WeekendWanderlust #AlamoDriveHappy https://t.co/kh9KuN3tMq

#WeekendWanderlust A6) Most of the time I feel like I have not choice but to disconnect when actually traveling. I'm usually so busy, I don't have time to focus on social media.

replying to @WWTravelChat @WWTravelChat A6: I try to do both but if I am juggling with video creating and photography, then I will forgo the social media. If I don't have any cell service, then my answer is clear 😂🤣.#WeekendWanderlust

A6: I am trying to strike a balance with social media while traveling. I tend to post to my IG story regularly, but maybe only once or twice a day on Twitter and Facebook. #WeekendWanderlust

replying to @StevenOnTheMove A6 (cont.): I've found that I spent too much time trying to post on all three platforms that I lost out on experiencing the moment or was delayed getting to the next stop on the itinerary. #WeekendWanderlust

A6 (cont.): I remember traveling without a cell phone (!!!). It was so freeing to shut it off & leave it behind. although I wouldn't dream of doing that now. #WeekendWanderlust

replying to @TravelLatte @TravelLatte @WanderlustJ1 We were planning a road trip 2 years ago. went to library and asked for a road atlas (just because I love maps) and they thought I was nuts! At the library?!?! #weekendwanderlust

A4: We think that it has changed travel in many ways. There is a lot of info out there & having it at your fingertips can take you to new & exciting places. We completed a survey to get a pulse on family travel & the part it plays. #WeekendWanderlust https://t.co/6iVaGvizDK

replying to @TravelLatte @TravelLatte Depends on if I'm traveling with people and how much I like them. Sometimes twitter can be relaxing and a way to get away from everything, even while still being social. Also, if I have a busy itinerary, I may not have time to be "social". #WeekendWanderlust

replying to @epicureanexpats @epicureanexpats What I find frustrating is that "traditional media" is more and more often written to appeal to a Social Media mindset. /smh #WeekendWanderlust
