Q2: What upper limit do you place on the temperature when venturing out on the trail? What extra preparations and precautions do you take in those conditions? #GearMeOut

A2 #GearMeOut I usually use my own body as a gauge for how hard I should push it through the heat. Working with Scouts though, we did place limitations on activity due to high heat/humidity https://t.co/YZvHpAXwQa

replying to @Todd_the_Hiker @Todd_the_Hiker A2: If it's higher than 85 before 7 am, I just stay home. I take 3 liters in my bladder, an extra liter in my pack, and a full brimmed hat. #GearMeOut

replying to @Todd_the_Hiker @Todd_the_Hiker A2 If temps actually get into the high 90s, I'll just do lots of water and electrolytes. #gearmeout

it depends on the humidity really. I can go out in really hot conditions as long as it is dry. if it is 30+ with high humidity I am melting faster than a soft serve cone in the hands of a 3 year old wearing all white.
if you don't know that's FAST

replying to @Todd_the_Hiker @Todd_the_Hiker A2 since we always hike w/dogs, if it reaches 85-90 or is very humid,we don't hike, or go out before sunrise, or hike along streams, or just swim and paddle !#GearMeOut

replying to @Todd_the_Hiker @Todd_the_Hiker A2- lots and lots of water. More stopping, less walking/hiking. Also if I can include ice cream that usually helps! And the humidity is more the deciding factor for me on going out than the actual temp. #gearmeout

replying to @Todd_the_Hiker @Todd_the_Hiker A2: Usually spend the summer months, near the coast, where it remains cool. Hiking coastline is very nice during the hotter temps. Highest this temp this year was around 25C°, it’s a doable temp. I wouldn’t want to go inland though. #GearMeOut

replying to @Todd_the_Hiker @Todd_the_Hiker A2) No pun intended but its up there, I suffer from Bell's Palsy so I really don't do well in the extreme heat. #GearMeOut

replying to @Todd_the_Hiker @Todd_the_Hiker A2) About 85 is my upper limits, always have a hydration bladder and will use electrolye replacements. #GearMeOut

A2: Depends a bit on location, since a steady breeze, esp. off a body of water, can be a big diff. In comfort. Also, is there water to dip into? That helps, too.
I'll be sure to bring SPF, more water, electrolytes, bug spray, & a bandana to keep wet against my neck.
