#TRLT 2023-05-02: Famous Places

Welcome to today's #TRLT on Famous Places. Please greet your host @TheTravelCamel, @LindaPeters64 & @RTWBarefoot. I'm tweeting from Southern Nevada, where are you joining us from this week?

replying to @t_jh2009 @t_jh2009 @TheTravelCamel @RTWBarefoot Good morning, looks like another sunny day in paradise, Tim. 🌞 #TRLT

replying to @LindaPeters64 @LindaPeters64 @TheTravelCamel @RTWBarefoot Good morning. Linda! Luckily it's going to be sunny but not hot. #TRLT

Q1) What is your favorite type/category of Famous Place that you like to visit? Please share a photo! #TRLT

replying to @t_jh2009 A1) For some reason I have a thing for famous residences around the globe. #TRLT

replying to @t_jh2009 @t_jh2009 I recognise the one from London - the others I'm not sure where they are or if I have visited. Thailand maybe one of them? #trlt

replying to @t_jh2009 @t_jh2009 If it's a good tour, definitely. Longfellow House in Boston is great. And the Hemingway birth home in Chicago was interesting. #trlt

replying to @ChinaMatt @ChinaMatt I've been to Longfellow House-Washington's Headquarters National Historic Site In Cambridge, #TRLT

replying to @t_jh2009 @t_jh2009 A1. I do love an old ruin, especially if it’s a well preserved one. 😊 #TRLT

@t_jh2009 @TheTravelCamel @sl2016_sl Where is the second photo, Tim?
#TRLT

replying to @LindaPeters64 @LindaPeters64 @TheTravelCamel @sl2016_sl The first is Canyon de Chelly National Monument in Northeast Arizona and the 2nd is Wupatki National Monument near Flagstaff. #TRLT

Again: Q1) What is your favorite type/category of Famous Place that you like to visit? Please share a photo! #TRLT

replying to @t_jh2009 @t_jh2009 A1: It really depends. One of my favorites (!) was a private tour of the Farrow & Ball factory in Dorset; their brand is world famous and in all the design magazines -- and all over our apartment. It was a huge thrill. #trlt

Q2) Has a Famous Place been different to your experience and why? Share a photo! via JoRoberts #TRLT

replying to @t_jh2009 A2) Visiting Nelson Mandela's home in Soweto gave me a different view of the man. #TRLT

replying to @CaitlinKellyNYC @CaitlinKellyNYC I went to South Africa during my trip around the world in 2018. #TRLT

Again: Q2) Has a Famous Place been different experience and why? Share a photo! via JoRoberts #TRLT

Q3) What is the most famous place located near you? Inspire us with a photo! via @postcardsplaces #TRLT

replying to @t_jh2009 A3) Sure Las Vegas is famous but the Hoover Dam might be the largest single tourist attraction in the region. #TRLT

Within the state, Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty. Paterson Falls and Edison Labs are close, too. #trlt https://t.co/Og8KwaN0Qb

replying to @ChinaMatt @ChinaMatt I've seen/visited a couple of those National Park Service areas and have a friend who has worked and is working at a couple of them as well. #TRLT

Again: Q3) What is the most Famous Place located near you? Inspire us with a photo! via @postcardsplaces #TRLT

Q4) Share a story from a visit to the quirkiest or most unusual 'Famous Place' that you've explored on The Road Less Traveled. Show us a photo! via @LindaPeters64 #TRLT

replying to @t_jh2009 A4) Petite France in South Korea was a bit unusual famous place to visit and if you stay for the puppet show then it starts to be creepy. #TRLT

replying to @t_jh2009
@t_jh2009 @LindaPeters64 A4) One lesser-known spot in Venice is the atelier of Mariano Fortuny, who invented a number of amazing/ongoing designs, from his tightly-pleated silk Delphos gowns to lighting. It feels like he just stepped out, and he died there on May 3, 1949. #trlt

replying to @t_jh2009 @t_jh2009 @CharlesMcCool A5. We couldn’t get inside Notre Dame when we visited so we went to the ruins underneath instead (excuse quality of the pic, it was a looong time ago on a really rubbish phone 🤦🏽♀️). #TRLT

replying to @sl2016_sl @sl2016_sl @CharlesMcCool That's cool, I wish I had known about them when I was there. #TRLT
