replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A4 Easy. Djibouti, Africa. Yes, high temps (times 118F), but what made it really bad was high humidity. #PTTravel

The guides at #Uluru are fond of telling you that you are often closer to the International Space Station than McDonalds #PTTravel A5

replying to @RTWBarefoot @kate_frankie #pttravel A5: most remote? Humans are a resilient species; it's rare to be completely away from them. But in terms of distance from a "town", I give you The Aral Sea, and "somewhere in Mongolia".

Quiet places. Great skies.

A5 The desert felt pretty remote despite being only 50km or so from the city #PTTravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A4. Ah, San Francisco. The coldest place I’ve ever been (and lived) 😝🥶#PTTravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A5. Did a motorcycle trip on my own round Southern Loas.

Fine in the day, but driving at night and competing for road space with large trucks felt pretty isolating.

Hiking in different countries can feel remote. Just your group sometimes

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A4. The coldest weather was once again Syktyvkar, where frost bite was a serious concern. As for heat, I’d have to say Australia. As a sun-intolerant Scot, I even needed a special hat. #PTTravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie A5. I’ve done a few Scottish long distance footpaths now. I love the feeling of walking into (relative) wilderness. #PTTravel

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie #pttravel A5: also, on my hike across the country last year, i had many nights in a tent, wild camping. That felt very ... miles from anywhere, at times; just me and the countryside.

replying to @kate_frankie @kate_frankie HAVE THE RIGHT CLOTHES FOR THE WEATHER!

I shout cos it will make or break your experience. Wrong clothes and you can be miserable. As someone who hates the cold I now do all I can to manage that with my clothing (or sneaking a hot water bottle in my bed 😂) #pttravel
